Maria Kreyn's "Dream Logic" Fills London's Swiss Church During Frieze Week
During London Frieze Week, the Ministry of Nomads (M.O.N) Art Foundation unveiled "Maria Kreyn: Dream Logic," showcasing a collection of new paintings at the Swiss Church in Covent Garden. This 1855 structure, renovated by Christ & Gantenbein, features a mirrored screen that enhances the nave's illumination. Kreyn's artwork, which draws inspiration from J.M.W. Turner and modern physics, includes storm-themed canvases and The Alchemist's Coil, a golden landscape that represents a classic altarpiece. Born in 1987 in Nizhny Novgorod and currently residing in New York, Kreyn pursued mathematics and philosophy at the University of Chicago. She has upcoming exhibitions, including "Chronos" at the 2024 Venice Biennale and "Hyperobject" in 2025, with her "Shakespeare Cycle" permanently exhibited at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
