Maria Cristina Didero curates Italian design across three continents

Curator Maria Cristina Didero has three concurrent projects in Muscat, Tirana, and Tokyo. In Oman, '1 to a Million Design Stories' at the National Museum of Oman (until mid-November) presents 35 Compasso d'Oro-winning objects, including Gio Ponti's Superleggera, Marcello Nizzoli's Lettera 22, and Design Group Italia's Tratto Pen, with illustrations by Steven Guarnaccia. In Tirana, 'Gaetano Pesce: Drawing Life' (June 4–July 3 at COD) co-curated with Francesca Molteni focuses on Pesce's drawings as autonomous practice, featuring his 1987 Pluralist Tower concept. In Tokyo, 'Craft x Tech' at Kudan House pairs international designers (Laura Bethan Wood, Philippe Malouin, David Caon, Atang Tshikare, Eugene Studio, Lanzavecchia + Wai) with artisans from the Tokai region. Didero began her career at the Vitra Design Museum under Alexander von Vegesack and emphasizes the human factor in design curation.
