Margine Studio's Casa Tahiti in Rome: A Chromatic Renovation

Rome-based architecture practice Margine Studio, founded by Valentina Pontieri and Giulio Ciccarese in 2012, has completed Casa Tahiti, an apartment renovation in Rome's Pigneto-Torpignattara area. The project transformed a fragmented pre-1939 apartment, previously altered in the 1970s, into a fluid, light-filled home for a young advertising creative and his daughter. The clients specified only two requirements: a pink kitchen and a yellow sofa. Margine Studio removed most internal partitions to create an open-plan living space, retaining a longitudinal structural wall. White terrazzo flooring, inspired by ancient Roman construction, runs throughout, with white walls providing a neutral backdrop. The kitchen features a full-height pink volume concealing the fridge and storage, with custom open shelving and Krion by Porcelanosa white countertops. A custom bookcase echoes the pink profiles. The bathroom in the primary suite is drenched in yellow resin, while the daughter's bedroom uses powder blue with green-tinted resin in her bathroom. The project exemplifies Margine Studio's approach to creating 'unique and self-contained microcosms' tailored to inhabitants' needs.
