Margaret Howell Opens London Workroom at Florentia Village for Shirtmaking
In the summer of 2026, British designer Margaret Howell launched a new shirtmaking workshop, the London Workroom, located at Florentia Village in Harringay, north London. The facility, renovated by Turner.Works, focuses on efficiency while maintaining traditional techniques, utilizing hand-cut patterns and skilled machinists. This expansion boosts production capabilities, allowing for an increased number of shirts to be crafted in London, alongside those made in Florence, Italy, and various British factories. With a team of 17 employees boasting over 175 years of collective experience, the initial offerings, including 12 designs for A/W 2026, will carry a distinctive black 'London Workroom' label. Howell, a graduate of Goldsmiths University, established Unit 7 in Edmonton in 2000 to perfect shirt-making.
