Marco Maggi's 'Higher Perplexity' Opens at Bienvenu Steinberg & C in New York
"Higher Perplexity," the 11th solo exhibition by Marco Maggi in New York, is being showcased at Bienvenu Steinberg & C from October 8 to November 14, 2026. Maggi employs an abstract visual style that utilizes common materials and formats, intentionally avoiding symbolism. His work explores the processing of information in a global context that is becoming increasingly narrow-minded. Featuring drawings and sculptures that evoke circuit boards, aerial perspectives, genetic manipulation, and nervous systems, he transforms abstraction into a form of cultural critique. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1957, Maggi currently resides in New York and Uruguay. His art has been widely exhibited in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe, including representing Uruguay at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. Notable exhibitions include The Iberê Foundation Camargo in Porto Alegre, Brazil (2025) and the Dallas Museum of Art in Dallas, TX (2022).
