Marcela Velez Launches Numerology-Inspired Bag Line House Number .01

other · 2026-09-09

On September 9, 2024, designer Marcela Velez launched House Number .01, a made-to-order handbag brand inspired by numerology, sacred geometry, and the Swiss forest home she purchased from Demna. The launch date, 9/9, symbolizes 'completion' in numerology. Velez, who co-founded M2Malletier in 2012 with Melissa Losada, closed that brand in 2022 due to market saturation and a shift in personal priorities after becoming a mother. She moved from Barcelona to Switzerland, where she bought a house originally designed by artist Ugo Rondinone as a live-work space. The home's serene forest environment and proximity to the Emma Kunz Museum in Würenlos influenced her research into sacred geometry, including the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio. The first silhouette, 'The Spiral,' is a collapsible bucket bag, the first of eight designs to be released over coming months. Only 50 bags per style will be made, totaling 400 bags. Each bag is handcrafted in Italy and features a customizable metal spiral motif in sterling silver or gold, with optional pavé gems, and comes in 18 colorways. The inaugural presentation will be held in New York City at Casa Valle for select clients. Velez describes the venture as akin to crafting commissioned sculptures, intended to be displayed as art heirlooms.
