Marc-André Fauteux's Nissan MICRA Design Wins 'Signature Edition' Contest

Marc-André Fauteux, a graphic and interactive designer from Canada, has emerged victorious in the 'Elevate All-New Nissan MICRA: The Signature Edition' competition, an international event organized by Nissan and designboom. His innovative concept transforms the car's exterior into a dynamic canvas featuring asymmetric colors and graphic designs, characterized by 'organized simplicity.' The design showcases a blue body complemented by a yellow front panel and red highlights. Launched in August 2025, the competition attracted over 1,000 submissions from creatives worldwide, with eleven finalists selected. With more than twenty years of visual design experience, Fauteux claimed the top honor. A full-scale prototype of his design is now exhibited at Nissan Automotive Europe's headquarters in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France. The jury appreciated the design's blend of structure, movement, and emotional resonance. Giovanny Arroba, vice president of Nissan Design Europe, commended the design for embodying the MICRA's expressive nature. This initiative continues designboom's legacy of supporting emerging talent since 1999.
