Manuela Solano's first Spanish solo show at CAAC

The Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC) in Seville showcases 'Alien Queen/Paraíso Extraño', marking the debut solo exhibition in Spain for Mexican artist Manuela Solano (born 1987, Ciudad Satélite, Mexico). This display features 36 large-scale paintings created between 2019 and 2025, illustrating figures from pop culture spanning the 1980s to the 2000s, and reconstructing personal recollections. In collaboration with Museo Tamayo, this exhibition is part of CAAC's global initiative. Solano employs her hands for painting, highlighting tactile engagement. The title reflects characters on societal fringes, symbolizing feminine power. A catalogue accompanies the exhibition, featuring works and writings from various contributors. Solano, who became blind in 2014, delves into themes of identity and memory. The exhibition is open until November 8, 2026.
