Mexican architect Manuel Cervantes has completed a private patio house in Costa Rica, centered around a swimming pool. The 400 sq m single-level residence is organized into four pavilions around a central courtyard, with two living spaces and five en-suite bedrooms. Local materials including Pacific cedar, Nicaraguan brick, and chukum plaster are used. The design draws inspiration from the ancient Roman impluvium and Latin American domestic architecture, aiming to blend contemporary language with climate-responsive traditions.
