Mansfield Museum Hosts Worst Album Covers Exhibition

Mansfield Museum in Nottinghamshire is hosting the Worst Record Covers in the World exhibition, featuring hundreds of hilariously bad album sleeves collected by Steve Goldman. The show, which opened on June 7, 2026, includes the infamous 1979 Peter Rabbitt album Roadstar, which features band members with rabbit bodies. Former lead singer JT Thompson, now 74, attended the opening as guest of honour, having only seen the cover after the band had split. Goldman began collecting 40 years ago after buying the rabbit album for 10p. Other notable covers include Oil and Vinegar by Dave McKenna/The Wilbur Little Quarter, Songs for Gay Dogs by Paddy Roberts, and All My Friends Are Dead by Freddie Gage, which Goldman bought for £110. The exhibition will travel to the Edinburgh Fringe later this year, displayed at Assembly Rooms Studios Bar in George Square. Visitors can vote for the worst cover and participate in a poll on divisive albums like Prince's Lovesexy.
