Manifesta 10 announces 55 artists for St. Petersburg edition

Manifesta 10, curated by Kasper König, will take place in St. Petersburg from late June to October 2014. The biennial will feature 55 international artists, including Lara Favaretto and Paola Pivi from Italy. Two-thirds of the exhibitions will be held in the newly renovated wing of the Hermitage Museum, with the remainder in the Winter Palace. The artist list includes Francis Alÿs, Marlene Dumas, Thomas Hirschhorn, Ragnar Kjartansson, Boris Mikhailov, and Pavel Pepperstein. Joanna Warsza will curate the Public Program, featuring additional names such as Deimantas Narkevičius. Manifesta director Hedwig Fijen emphasized the organization's commitment to operating in contested areas and called for peaceful solutions to conflicts, particularly in Ukraine.
