Mangrove as Metaphor: Caribbean Art at Mémorial ACTe

In Pointe à Pitre, Guadeloupe, the Mémorial ACTe is hosting an exhibition called 'Nou an péyi révé, Traversées de la mangrove.' This project draws inspiration from the works of Maryse Condé, a renowned Guadeloupean author. Curators Elisabeth Gustave, Tiyi Kalmery, Olivier Marboeuf, and Christelle Clairville have brought together twenty-eight contemporary artists from the Caribbean and Africa. The exhibition revolves around Condé's book 'Traversée de la mangrove' and uses the mangrove as a metaphor for themes like resilience, migration, and colonial history. Visitors can experience various art forms, including painting and video. Additionally, the Biks program features discussions and community events, running through to 29 August 2026.
