Mandy El-Sayegh's 'For Theresa' Collides Images and Histories at Space K Seoul

Mandy El-Sayegh's exhibition titled 'For Theresa' is being held at Space K Seoul from March 19 to June 21, 2026. Among these are the 'Net-Grid' canvases (2010– ) and the 'Grand Collection of World Art' tableaux (2026). The exhibition pays homage to artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha (1951–1982) and her work 'Dictée.' Featured pieces utilize banknotes, newspaper clippings, and classical female imagery. One series delves into Korea's colonial past, highlighting Ingres's 'Grande Odalisque.' The concluding section presents a floor covered in newspaper stained with red latex, representing resilience and memory, while the 'Burning Square' series (2023– ) juxtaposes Tiffany campaign visuals with depictions of violence, framing the archive as a battleground of conflicting imagery.
