Manchester School of Architecture showcases urban forest around Old Trafford stadium
The Manchester School of Architecture showcased various student designs, including an innovative concept to encircle Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium with an urban forest. Roopendra Kumar Prabhakaran's project, titled Voxel Forest – Rewilding Old Trafford, envisions transforming the area from industrial grey heritage into a vibrant mixed-use urban forest, utilizing ecology as a foundational element. Additional projects featured include The Beta District by Dwij Ashar, a speculative urban area blending physical and digital spaces with AI; Samaher Tariq Bakhsh's Old Trafford: Towards a Seamless Urban Flow, which proposes three interconnected flow systems; and Luyang Song's Civic Gradient, reimagining Old Trafford as a civic-sports hub. The school's MA Architecture and Urbanism and MA Architecture and Adaptive Reuse programs view Manchester as a dynamic urban laboratory.
