Manchester School of Architecture presents ecological repair site and more

The Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) has showcased student projects from its MArch and MLA programmes, including an ecological repair site on Manchester's Pomona Island. Neel Naregal's 'Succession of Care' proposes a non-linear cycle of ecological repair using phytoremediation and slow pyrolysis to transform contaminated soil into ceramic glazes. Other projects include Tsz Kiu Jackie Cheung's 'The Social Fusion Laboratory' importing Hong Kong resilience typologies to Greater Manchester, George Cox's 'New R'lyeh' using computational tools for flood adaptation, Luke Ferguson's 'The Stanier and Bond Theatre' in Crewe, Laura Popa's adaptable performance venue along railway infrastructure, Jacob Hodgson's 'Credit Landscapes' critiquing the UK's biodiversity credit market, Shivsen Padhiar's 'Antardhara' reimagining memorial at Pomona Lock, Swathikrishna Rajesh's 'Memorial of Injustices' daylighting the River Cornbrook, Marwa Al-Saqqar's 'Humat Albayt' addressing post-conflict housing in Iraq, and Afreen Ubaid's 'The Silent Filter' proposing a regenerative wastewater wetland. The projects span ateliers including Architecture, [CPU]ai, Continuity, Flux, Infrastructure Space, Praxis, and Some Kind of Nature, with tutors such as Stefan White, Paul Robinson, and Debapriya Chakrabarti.
