Major Asian Biennials and Exhibitions Launch Across the Region in Autumn 2016
In the fall of 2016, significant biennials and exhibitions are set to debut throughout Asia. The Seoul Museum of Art will host the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016, curated by Beck Jee-sook, from 1 September to 20 November, featuring 61 artists. The Gwangju Biennale, led by Maria Lind, is scheduled from 2 September to 6 November, highlighting 101 artists. Meanwhile, the Busan Biennale, directed by Yun Cheagab, will occur from 3 September to 30 November, showcasing 320 works by 121 participants. In China, the Shanghai Project kicks off on 4 September, featuring a pavilion designed by Sou Fujimoto, and the Yinchuan Biennale opens on 9 September with approximately 74 artists. Additional exhibitions include Zeng Fanzhi at UCCA and the Singapore Biennale starting on 27 October.
