Maison Proust Unveils New Mural by Delphine Nény and Atelier Bedo le Peley

architecture-design · 2026-08-26

Maison Proust, a luxurious five-star hotel located in the Marais district of Paris, has introduced a stunning hand-painted mural in its front desk and concierge area. This artwork is a joint effort by French decorative artist Delphine Nény and Atelier Bedo le Peley, under the direction of Benoît Desclos le Peley. It draws inspiration from six months of research into Marcel Proust's herbarium, transforming the writer's botanical themes into modern decorative art. Utilizing the traditional verre églomisé technique, the mural incorporates gold, palladium, metallic leaf, pearl powders, mica, and metallic pigments, designed to shift with light and perspective. The hotel, envisioned by Jacques Garcia, pays tribute to Proust and the Belle Époque, featuring 23 rooms and suites, salons, a library, a winter garden, and a spa. Its art collection includes an autographed edition of Remembrance of Things Past, a letter from Proust, and pieces by Jacques-Émile Blanche and Jean Béraud. This mural enhances the hotel's literary and sensory experience, with cocktails inspired by the madeleine and rooms named after Proustian figures. The unveiling aligns with Paris's fall season, attracting visitors from the fashion and art worlds.
