Maija Fox's 'Day by Day, Bit by Bit' at OUTPOST Norwich Explores Workshop Labour

exhibition · 2026-08-20

Maija Fox, an artist from Helsinki, will showcase her work 'As the sap rises' at OUTPOST in Norwich from August 1 to August 31, 2026. The installation titled 'Day by Day, Bit by Bit' incorporates materials such as cast aluminium, Baltic Green granite, and linen, delving into the themes of craftsmanship and accessibility in metalworking. Fox, who grew up in Suffolk and received her training in Norwich, Glasgow, and Helsinki, established her own workshop after years of working in shared spaces. In an interview with Ellery Child, she reflects on her family's history in blacksmithing and the traditionally male-dominated environment of workshops. The exhibition will also feature a panel discussion with Slaghammers and an online event hosted by Ore Projects. OUTPOST, situated at 10b Wensum Street, operates Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 6pm.
