Magnar Moen's Charcoal Drawings at Entrée, Bergen

The Entrée gallery in Bergen showcases 'Dagar i skiftande ljos' (Days in Changing Light), a solo display featuring large-format charcoal drawings by Magnar Moen, coinciding with the Bergen International Festival. Born in 1945 in Trøndelag and currently residing in Bergen, Moen investigates line, material, and perception using charcoal, graphite, and spinel black. His artistic method focuses on body movement and concentration, viewing the line as both a seed for creativity and an extension of the hand. The black medium is self-referential, prioritizing process and physical engagement. Moen, an alumnus of Bergen School of Arts and Crafts and Vestlandske Kunstakademi, has exhibited since the 1970s at various venues, with works held by multiple art institutions. He was part of the 40th anniversary exhibition at USF Verftet in 2024.
