Mafalda opens new exhibition space for Molise artists, previews future civic gallery

On July 11, 2026, the new Centro Polivalente in Piazza della Libertà, located in Mafalda, Campobasso, launched an exhibition titled 'Lavori in corso' (Work in Progress). Organized by the Archivio Cosetta Mastragostino in partnership with Sala 1 – Centro Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, the exhibition showcases the work of 19 artists from the Molise region and will be on display until September 30. Curated by Cosetta Mastragostino, this initiative is a significant step toward creating a future Galleria Civica d’Arte Contemporanea in Mafalda. A complimentary digital catalogue is available upon request from Sala 1. The exhibition aims to enhance cultural and tourism development through a system of permanent collections, temporary exhibits, and artist residencies. The artists featured include Mauro Angelone, Nino Barone, Paolo Borrelli, and others. Mastragostino emphasized the need for a dedicated space for Molise artists, which is currently lacking even in Campobasso. The mayor of Mafalda facilitated the project by providing the venue. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition for free from Monday to Saturday, 10–12 and 16–18.
