Madrid and Leganés Launch Open Call for Sustainable District Design
An open call for urban design ideas has been initiated by the Community of Madrid and the Leganés City Council for the 'Puerta de Madrid' area, a sustainable project adjacent to Leganés Norte. Covering over one million square meters, the development allocates 40% to green spaces and 60% to public facilities, residential areas, and tertiary uses. It aims to construct approximately 4,000 homes, comprising 1,500 market-rate units and 2,500 through public housing initiatives. The Butarque Stream will be the focal point of the area, linked by ecological corridors. Proposals must adhere to high standards of sustainability and innovation.
