Madonna's English Country Estate Ashcombe and Her Art Collection

Madonna and her then-husband Guy Ritchie purchased Ashcombe, the former country estate of Cecil Beaton, in Wiltshire, England. The 1,000-acre property includes a converted stable block and dairy house, as the original 1686 mansion was dismantled in the 19th century. Madonna's art collection includes Frida Kahlo's 'Self-Portrait with Monkey' and 'My Birth', a Francis Bacon painting, and works by Helmut Newton and Collier Schorr. She lent Kahlo's works to Tate Modern for a retrospective. Madonna also collects costumes from her tours, which she plans to exhibit in a traveling show similar to the Jackie Kennedy exhibition. She collaborated with designers Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, and Stella McCartney for her 2004 Re-Invention tour costumes. McCartney also designed her 2000 wedding dress, worn with Grace Kelly's Cartier tiara. Madonna's documentary 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret', directed by Jonas Åkerlund, covers the tour and her visit to Israel. She is working on a new dance album with Stuart Price and planning a 2006 tour, while writing children's books including 'Lotsa de Casha'.
