architecture-design · 2026-08-04

MAD Architects, under the direction of Ma Yansong, has finalized the Shenzhen Bay Culture Square, a public park and coastal design museum located in Nanshan, Shenzhen, China. Initiated in 2018, the project covers an area of 188,000 square meters on a 51,000-square-meter waterfront site, taking eight years to complete. The master plan, revealed in 2020, encompasses the Creative Design Hall, Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, and public green spaces. This design seamlessly connects the corporate district to the coastline, providing a serene escape. The structure includes two sets of exhibition halls, galleries, and a multifunctional theater, with roofs that support native plant species. According to World Population Review, Shenzhen is projected to be the seventh most populous city by 2026.
