MACH completes red town hall in Calasparra, Spain

Barcelona-based studio MACH has completed Calasparra Town Hall in Spain, using red textured render and pink-toned concrete to create a warm civic presence. The 1,120-square-metre building, adjacent to the municipal theatre and market square, aims to form a new civic centre. Its deep red colour references Cartagena red, a shade from the region's iconic kiosks. The long, narrow plan features open, reconfigurable floors with concrete structure pushed to the perimeter, allowing for future expansion of up to three additional storeys. A mix of rectilinear and arched openings ensures daylight, and a balcony overlooks the square. MACH was founded by Laia Gelonch and Marc Subirana.
