MacFadden & Thorpe and Anisha Sachar Design Bendy, Salty Identity for Art + Water in San Francisco
Art + Water, a newly established art venue along San Francisco's waterfront, debuted with a visual identity crafted by MacFadden & Thorpe alongside Anisha Sachar. Drawing inspiration from the artist-apprentice framework, the initiative provides ten seasoned artists with complimentary studio spaces at Pier 29, in return for mentoring twenty emerging artists, who also benefit from free studios. This program seeks to rejuvenate the waterfront through exhibitions and public events. The visual identity highlights the concept of "flow," incorporating a bespoke wordmark, fluid typography, and engaging motion design, all showcased in a lively color scheme featuring hot fuchsia and electric aqua. The project was launched by Dave Eggers and JD Beltran as a more affordable alternative to traditional art education, with Eggers discovering the vacant pier while biking.
