Mac Collins Explores Masks, Furniture and Ancient Forms at V&A East Storehouse

Mac Collins, a visual artist, engaged in the 'Look What I Found' series at V&A East Storehouse, where he researched various pieces for a public exhibition. His residency, facilitated by Hospital Rooms, centered on masks, furniture, ceramics, and sculptures. Inspired by Ronald Moody's L’Homme (1938), he examined the symmetry and construction of masks IS.8-2018, 578E-1886, and IM.19-1937. His investigation also included a jade vessel (1542&A-1882) and a CIRC.12-1925 item resembling a horse ornament from his grandmother's attic. Additionally, Collins analyzed an ebony cabinet from Ceylon (IS.18-1986) and a mahogany table by James Lamb (W.9-1986), appreciating their distinctive designs. The residency underscored the relationship between historical and modern artifacts.
