Ma Kelu Makes French Debut at Cité de l'Architecture with 'Ada' Series

exhibition · 2026-10-18

From 16 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris will host the first exhibition in France by Shanghai-born artist Ma Kelu, who established the No Name group during the 1970s. His new series, titled Ada, draws inspiration from Bruce Lee's iconic battle cry and showcases sharp, monochromatic shapes against expansive blank spaces. Having moved to New York in the late 1980s, Ma Kelu challenges traditional academic and Party aesthetic standards, incorporating elements from both Western and Chinese art. His creations focus on the concepts of gesture, minimalism, and the flow of time. Admission costs 13 €, reduced to 10 €, and is free for those under 18; the venue is open daily except Tuesdays, from 11am to 7pm, and until 9pm on Thursdays.
