other · 2026-09-14

Luke Evans, hailing from Pontypool, portrays journalist Martin Gilmour in the upcoming five-part ITV series The Party, set to debut on 11 October. In addition to acting, he serves as an executive producer for the adaptation of Elizabeth Day's novel. The production took place in Cardiff and Bridgend, making it Evans's first filming experience near his childhood home in Aberbargoed, Caerphilly county, in three decades. He described the winter filming as "joyous," with family appearances in the finale. Co-starring with Tom Cullen as Ben Fitzmaurice, Evans later returned to New York for a seven-month engagement as Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, expressing gratitude to Tim Curry, who passed away shortly after Evans's last performance. Having come out as gay, Evans feels he is "too old" for the role of Bond.
