Lufo: Illustrations Between Play and Community

Lufo, born Luca Longi in 1995, is an illustrator from the Marche region now based in Bologna. His detailed, playful drawings reference medieval art and Flemish precision. After a chance encounter, he visited the Sendak Foundation in New York to study Maurice Sendak's originals. He has created public works such as a goose game table at Bar Maurizio and a mural for IIS Belluzzi-Fioravanti with Roberta Cacciatore. His solo show "Facciamo che io ero una bestia" was held at Portanova12 in 2024, and he contributed a drawing for Salaborsa library's 21st anniversary. In 2025, he exhibited "Parco giochi" at Galleria del Rubik. Lufo works with pen, ink, and watercolor on paper, or enamel on walls, with flat color fields. He studied international relations before attending Ars in Fabula summer school in Macerata. He is currently illustrating fairy tales by migrant women for Casa di Quartiere Fondo Comini and collaborating with Marco Taddei. Lufo believes human error and time are essential to artistic creation and that AI cannot replace his work.
