Lucky Iris and Lynks Release 'lalalalala' Video via Launchpad+ and EMI North
Leeds electro-pop duo Lucky Iris and London artist Lynks have unveiled the video for their collaborative single "lalalalala," issued through Launchpad+ and EMI North. The pairing began with an unplanned backstage encounter at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds, after which songwriter-producer duo Maeve and Jasper convened with Lynks at Metropolis Studios in London. Crunchy, hard-hitting production sits against disarming vocals on the track, whose lyrics run through every conceivable mode of communication — late-night texts and carrier pigeons included — to capture the frenzy of early infatuation. Maeve described movement as her favourite quality in music and cited a Lynks show as the peak of that feeling, saying the studio session felt like magic as the pair built a crunchy soundscape that merges, or perhaps collides, the two acts' worlds. Lynks framed the verse around the tightrope of new romance, where neediness battles the urge to seem unbothered. The single follows a run that brought Lucky Iris a place in the NME 100, a guest mix for BBC 6 Music's New Music Fix, and coverage in Clash, Rolling Stone UK and DIY. Having supported Dorian Electra and Hannah Diamond, the duo play the track live at EMI North's Mercury Prize fringe showcase before appearing at Left of the Dial festival in Rotterdam. The video was photographed by Simran Kaur.
