Lubov Gallery Founder Francisco Correa Cordero Dies at 37

At the age of 37, Francisco Correa Cordero, the founder of Lubov gallery in New York, has passed away peacefully. He established Lubov in Chinatown in 2017, showcasing a select group of artists while also hosting exhibitions featuring numerous others. The gallery's current artists include Theodore Darst, Bryce Kroll, Marsha Pels, Connor Marie Stankard, and Harry Tafoya. Notable past exhibitors are Jenna Westra, Victor Boullet, Andres Serrano, Benjamin Bertocci, Jon Rafman, and Parker Ito. Recently, My Barbarian held an exhibition, their first since a solo show at the Whitney Museum, which highlighted queer and leftist themes, as mentioned by Louis Bury in ArtReview. In the upcoming autumn, painter Kane Huynh is set to exhibit at the gallery. Originally from Mexico, Cordero moved to the US to pursue photography at the School of Visual Arts, where he also worked and organized events at various galleries, including Yancey Richardson and Martos Gallery. From 2015 to 2022, he acted as Executive Coordinator for Independent Curators International and was a board member of KAJE, an experimental exhibition venue in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
