LTR1 by Carazo Arquitectura: A Vertical Neighborhood in El Salvador

Carazo Arquitectura has introduced LTR1, a mixed-use project located in Nuevo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, spanning 60,265 square meters. This development features over 400 residential units aimed at the mid-market sector, alongside commercial areas, restaurants, coworking spaces, wellness centers, plazas, and gardens, all arranged around an existing forest. The architects have designed the structure in an oval shape to enhance communal areas. This approach reflects the concept of 'Tropical Vertical Urbanism,' which encourages density while fostering a connection between nature and community life. The design shifts from public to private spaces, with the 'Quadra' commercial district situated at the ground level. LTR1 employed climate-responsive elements such as voids and sky gardens, earning both Jury Winner and Popular Choice Winner at the 14th Architizer A+Awards in the Unbuilt – Multi-Unit Housing category.
