exhibition · 2026-07-23

From October 7, 2026, to January 25, 2027, the Musée du Louvre in Paris will present a retrospective dedicated to Francisco de Zurbarán, in partnership with the National Gallery in London and the Art Institute of Chicago. This exhibition, curated by Charlotte Chastel-Rousseau, aims to delve into Zurbarán's artistic journey beyond his mystical image, highlighting his expertise in color, still-life compositions, and his role as a workshop leader. Born in Fuente de Cantos in 1598, he relocated to Seville in 1614, where he formed a friendship with Diego Velázquez. The showcase will include masterpieces from the Prado and will examine his ties to the School of Seville, along with themes such as Saint Francis and the Immaculate Conception.
