Louise Giovanelli Debuts New Paintings at White Cube Mason's Yard, London
Louise Giovanelli, a painter based in Manchester and originally from London, will showcase her solo exhibition at White Cube Mason's Yard in London from 20 November 2026 until 16 January 2027. A graduate of the Manchester School of Art in 2015, Giovanelli's work focuses on the concept of 'slow looking.' The exhibition features her inaugural painting of a face within a curtain and a wig artwork that exceeds human head size. Influenced by images of hanging meat carcasses, her pieces convey a seductive, geological essence. With prominent brushstrokes, she delves into themes of worship and idolization, drawing inspiration from Giorgio Morandi and diverse cultural symbols. Giovanelli's art strikes a balance between figuration and abstraction, characterized as 'beautiful – but beauty with an edge.' An article on her work will be featured in the November 2026 Art Issue of Wallpaper*, which releases on 8 October.
