Louis Vuitton and Marc Newson debut first aluminium suitcase

In collaboration with industrial designer Marc Newson, Louis Vuitton is set to unveil the Horizon Aluminium, marking its inaugural aluminium suitcase. This initiative celebrates ten years since the launch of the Horizon luggage series in 2016 and follows Newson's recent contributions to Ferrari's Luce. The suitcase, made from stamped and laser-cut aluminium, is touted as the first rivet-free model available, featuring a full-depth shell crafted from a single piece and an ultra-slim frame. Internal mechanisms replace external hinges, while the embossed Monogram pattern boosts structural strength. Accompanying it is a matching Vanity Case. The design reflects Newson's distinctive material approach, reminiscent of his 1984 LC1 lounge chair and Louis Vuitton’s 19th-century aluminium explorer trunks. Newson’s decade-long collaboration with Louis Vuitton includes a biomorphic backpack, fragrance bottles, and the 2023 'Cabinet of Curiosities' trunk. The Horizon Aluminium will be available globally on 12 June through the Louis Vuitton website, with prices starting at £2,580 for the Vanity Case and £3,500 for the Horizon 55 Suitcase.
