Louis Morlæ's Robotic Walls Reconfigure Tranen Gallery in Hellerup

In Hellerup, Denmark, at the Tranen gallery within Gentofte Central Library, Louis Morlæ unveils his inaugural solo exhibition in the Nordic region, titled 'Walls at the World's End,' which is curated by Toke Lykkeberg and will be on display until 16 August 2026. The highlight of the exhibition features three robotic walls on wheeled bases, developed in collaboration with Robot Wars engineer Alan Young, and operated by an AI that gathers real-time internet data through poetic pairings such as 'the fence and the horizon.' These walls dynamically reshape the gallery, interacting like bumper cars to form new pathways and obstacles. An oversized airbag with blinking lights can inflate to limit the walls' movement, serving as a literal 'kill switch' that critiques the tech industry's claims of self-regulation. Accompanying the installation are three single-channel AI-generated films: one portrays a tech individualist reminiscent of Peter Thiel, another depicts an eco-collective's rave culminating in alien abduction, and the third envisions a post-human multispecies society from the viewpoint of ecstatic bees. The exhibition delves into themes of disruption, incomprehensible systems, and the absurdity of managing autonomous technology.
