Louis Kahn's Visionary Bicentennial Plans Offer Lessons for a Divided America

As the United States nears its 250th birthday amidst significant societal rifts, a retrospective on architect Louis Kahn's unfulfilled visions for Philadelphia's 1976 Bicentennial underscores ideals that resonate today. Unfortunately, Kahn's concepts were never realized due to insufficient federal support and leadership issues, leading to a modest Liberty Bell pavilion by Kahn's disciple Romaldo Giurgola.
