Lorrie Graham: Five Decades of Photojournalism on View in NSW

An exhibition in New South Wales surveys the five-decade career of Australian photojournalist Lorrie Graham, featuring portraits of cultural and political figures. Among the subjects are Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, photographed in Moscow in 1987, and film director Gillian Armstrong, captured in Sydney in 1979. The display includes Graham Kennedy (Sydney, 1989), film critic Margaret Pomeranz (Sydney, 2002), artist Jeffrey Smart (Sydney, 1999), actor Cate Blanchett (Sydney, 2002), and singer Jimmy Barnes with his family on tour in Rockhampton, Queensland, in 1990. Also present are Wiradjuri woman and reconciliation advocate Linda Burney (Sydney, 2000), playwright David Williamson (Sydney, 1983), writer John le Carré (London, 1980), performer and writer Robyn Archer (Sydney, 1985), artist and impresario Andy Warhol (London, 1980), actor Noni Hazelhurst (Sydney, 1982), and business magnate and media mogul Rupert Murdoch (Sydney, 1982–83). The exhibition highlights Graham’s sustained engagement with portraiture across journalism and the arts.
