London Summer Art Guide 2026: Major Exhibitions and New Spaces

Museumtijdschrift's summer guide for London showcases significant exhibitions and emerging art venues. 'Frida: The Making of an Icon' is on display at Tate Modern until January 3, 2027. Tate Britain features works by Whistler, including the famous 'Whistler's Mother', available until September 27. The British Museum will unveil the Bayeux Tapestry starting September 10, while the National Gallery will exhibit all nine known portraits by Jan van Eyck from November 21. Anish Kapoor's works can be seen at Hayward Gallery until October 18. The Serpentine's 25th pavilion boasts a brick design, alongside Jesús Rafael Soto's art and David Hockney's paintings until August 23. The V&A presents 'Schiaparelli – Fashion Becomes Art', and the Design Museum showcases 'Designer Maker User'. Dulwich Picture Gallery will launch 'Portrait of a City' on July 28, and the Barbican features 'Project a Black Planet' until September 6.
