Locust Grove Pavilion by de Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop

The Locust Grove Pavilion, designed by de Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop, expands the experience of one of Kentucky's most significant historic landscapes. Located within the 55-acre National Historic Landmark, the open-air pavilion hosts educational programs, performances, community events, and daily visitor activities, extending the interpretive mission of William Croghan's property beyond its historic buildings. The project, completed in 2022, covers an area of 7,636 square feet. The design team was led by Roberto de Leon and M. Ross Primmer, with design team members Michael Gastineau, Nate Ryman, and John Welcher. The pavilion is categorized as Cultural Architecture and a Cultural Center, situated in Louisville, United States. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and photographs were provided by de Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop. The pavilion transforms a contemporary community gathering space into an instrument of historical interpretation, blending modern design with the site's rich heritage.
