Local Local Transforms Kolonaki Apartment into Permanent Athens Studio with Cypress, Marble, and Glass

architecture-design · 2026-10-03

Local Local, an architectural firm based in Greece, has transformed a ground-floor apartment in the Kolonaki area of Athens into its inaugural permanent studio, named Local Local Athenian Studio. The renovation involved non-structural modifications such as refinished wooden floors, white walls, and restored rippled-glass doors. The L-shaped design incorporates a primary workspace and a meeting room, featuring a blend of existing furniture and custom pieces. A large co-working table draws inspiration from a solid-cypress table created by Sofia Xanthakou's cousin. Xanthakou's library is showcased on a Vitsoe shelving system, while Michael Anastassiades ceiling lights brighten the area. Collaboration is facilitated by a pistachio-colored pinboard, and two marble sculptures by Theodore Psychoyos serve dual purposes as a console and seating. The project was captured in photographs by Lorenzo Zandri.
