LMTLS carves wooden canyon inside SKIN1004's Soho flagship

New York- and Seoul-based LMTLS Architecture has completed a second flagship for Korean skincare brand SKIN1004, this time in Soho, New York. The 9,900-square-foot store occupies a two-storey building with a narrow layout. A double-height entry is wrapped in a custom wood installation made from stacked two-inch-thick ultralight MDF layers wrapped in stained maple veneer, evoking a natural gorge. Low undulations serve as seating and shelving. A brushed metal column with the SKIN1004 logo rises to an amorphous light box. A row of nine-foot-tall mirrored panels runs the length of the store to create spatial illusion. At the center, ceiling height compresses and wood forms a sinuous point-of-sale counter. The back features a 12-foot-tall mirror for photos and an LED wall for brand films. LMTLS partner Beomki Lee said the design gives tangible spatial form to the brand's philosophy, aiming for a museum-like experiential space. The project credits include Tricarico Architecture and Design as architect of record, Schimenti Construction as general contractor, and Gilbert + Adirondack Studios as millworker.
