llabb Renovates Ligurian Beach Apartment with Continuous Oak Millwork Band
The architecture firm llabb, located in Genoa, undertook the renovation of a beach apartment from the 1930s in Levanto, Italy, for a family from California. This 104 sqm residence, situated just 12.5 meters from the beach within the historic "Blondet house," has been transformed into a full-time home. Due to the constraints of load-bearing masonry walls, a continuous band of custom oak millwork was designed, which encompasses kitchen cabinets, a dining bench, a TV unit, a bookcase, storage niches, children's beds, a desk, and a master headboard, all finished in deep matte blue and clear coatings. The corridor was shortened to enhance connectivity between the seafront rooms, while original elements like the polychrome marble entrance ramp were preserved. This project, finished in 2025, features furniture from Carl Hansen and Ditre Italia.
