Līga Spunde Turns 1646 into a 'Gym for the Heart'
Līga Spunde, a Latvian artist born in 1990 in Riga, is set to unveil her inaugural solo exhibition in the Netherlands titled The Mind The Heart. This event will take place at 1646 in The Hague, commencing on Friday, 15 May 2026, at 19:00. The exhibition reimagines the venue as a "gym for the heart," delving into emotional experiences within a capitalist framework through humor, sculptures, graphics, and video art. Spunde's work fuses digital aesthetics with elements of speculative fiction. She earned her BA in 2014 and MA in 2016 from the Art Academy of Latvia and attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (In Situ3, 2015). Her pieces are featured in collections such as the Latvian National Museum of Art, and the exhibition is a partnership with Kim? Contemporary Art Centre (Riga, LV).
