Liam Young's 'In Other Worlds' opens at Barbican Centre

Liam Young, a speculative architect, has launched 'In Other Worlds', an engaging exhibition at the Barbican Centre in London that delves into potential futures influenced by AI, climate technology, and planetary infrastructure. Spanning three venues, including the Curve gallery and an underground car park, the exhibit showcases films, installations, audio narratives, and set designs. A highlight is the newly commissioned film 'World Machine', which envisions a future where a planetary supercomputer integrates Earth's surfaces into a circuit. Additionally, 'Planet City' presents a concept of a single ultra-dense super-metropolis accommodating Earth's 10 billion inhabitants. Voiceovers are provided by Diego Luna, Maxine Peake, and Richard Ayoade, with original compositions from Forest Swords, Space Afrika, and Iwiri First Nations Choir. The exhibition is open until 6 September 2026.
