Letizia Cariello's Parnassus installation at GAM Milano dialogues with Appiani's fresco

At GAM Milano, artist Letizia Cariello (working as LETIA) presents the site-specific installation Παρνασσός Parnassus, on view until July 5, 2026. The work is installed beneath Andrea Appiani's 1811 fresco Il Parnaso, originally in the villa's dining room. The installation features an open quadrilateral structure of interlocking gold-yellow aluminum tubes, enclosing three pairs of circular calendars (Calendario Vento, 2025-26; Calendario Luce, 2026) and a paper globe (Globo Mediatore, 2026). The artist describes the dimensions as precisely studied to dialogue with circularity. The work evokes dance, music, and ancient forms, with elements of discontinuity such as different rotations and a deliberately disproportionate hanging tassel. Cariello speaks of 'the time of mortals and immortals, the time of return and time of destination, in a dimension of playful and ironic seriousness.'
