Leon Keer and Marije Spelbos Unveil 3D Mural at Hasselt City Archives
A new mural by Leon Keer and Marije Spelbos has been installed at the Hasselt City Archives in Belgium, commissioned by SAGA. The artwork was unveiled during Kunstennacht, the city's annual art night, which also featured an exhibition at the archives celebrating fifty years of graffiti and street art in Limburg. The mural is intended by the Hasselt City Council to draw more public attention to the archives. Keer explained that the function of the archives—preserving numbers, letters, and symbols—inspired the design, which includes the phrase 'once upon a time' to evoke the past. In his signature anamorphic 3D style, Keer painted a transparent bag filled with plastic alphabet toys, inviting children to create their own stories that may either fade or be archived. The optimal viewing point for the 3D effect is next to the green fence along the footpath.
