Lélia Demoisy transforms forest into living artwork at Domaine de Chamarande

Artist Lélia Demoisy (b. 1991) presents "Récits de forêts" at Domaine départemental de Chamarande until August 30, 2026. Her sculptures merge plant and animal realms, using materials like thuya branches, snake skin, rabbit fur, and pine. In 2023, after a cherished Cedrus Deodora was cut down, she salvaged every part—pollen, bark, branches, trunk—and grew 200 seedlings from its cones, each a unique artwork with a certificate, titled "La Descendance." Demoisy graduated from École des Arts décoratifs in 2015, won the Fondation Mécène & Loire young talent grant in 2016, and completed a residency in Patagonia in 2019. She has shown at Chaumont-sur-Loire and La Terrasse in Nanterre (2022), and at Galerie By Lara Sedbon (2023). In 2024 she won the Carta Bianca prize and Art & Écoconception prize from Art of Change 21, and was a finalist for the Coal prize. In 2025 she created "Entre-nous" for Maison Ruinart in Reims. Her solo exhibition "Polyfaunie Polyflori" runs at Galerie By Lara Sedbon in 2026. A concurrent group show "Arachnéen" is at Musée de la Dentelle in Chantilly from March 28 to August 30.
