Leica's Record Revenue Streak Ends After Four Years
Leica Camera Group reported revenue of €573 million ($665.8 million) for its 2025/26 financial year (April 2025 to March 2026), a 3.8% decline from the previous year's record €596 million. This ends a four-year streak of record-setting revenue. Despite the dip, the company described the result as 'robust' amid geopolitical uncertainty, unfavorable exchange rates, and stricter customs regulations. The Photo division was the primary revenue driver, while the Mobile division showed strong growth, and Sports Optics remained stable. Watches, accessories, home theater projectors, and eyewear all demonstrated positive developments. The year coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Leica I camera, marked by limited-edition products and luxury collectibles, and the 50th anniversary of Leica Galleries. CEO Andreas Voll highlighted innovations including the Leica M EV1 (first M-series camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder), the Leica Leitzphone (first internationally available smartphone), and the Leica Cine Compact 1 smart mini-projector. Germany was the strongest market. The company is reportedly considering selling a majority stake and is developing next-generation image sensors with Gpixel.
