Leia Sfez on The Oblist, Bvlgari, and the Future of Luxury

Leia Sfez, French artistic director and co-founder of The Oblist, discusses her journey from photography to collectible design, her partnership with husband Gary Sfez, and her affinity for Bvlgari. Raised in Paris and now based in Madrid, she launched The Oblist in 2023 as a platform for collectible objects, contemporary craft, and emerging voices, now representing over 500 artists and designers worldwide. The platform features works by Sheyang Li, Zbeul Studio, Astrid Houssin, and upcoming collaborations with Sophie Dries. Sfez emphasizes a curatorial approach that values tension over perfection, mixing eras and disciplines. She recently met with Whitewall at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in New York wearing Bvlgari pieces, including the Serpenti Cuore 1968 Top Handle bag and Vimini necklace. The Sfez couple discovered young Ukrainian designer Zemna, whose pewter pieces are now on the platform. Leia Sfez envisions the future of luxury as emotional, slow, and handmade, with objects that age and carry meaning.
